What is circle Time?
Some of us may have experienced and have fond memories of “circle time” in pre-schools or kindergartens. It refers to a defined time when everyone comes together in a circle (on chairs or on the ground) to play musical games, games, conversations to develop talking & listening skills, and so on. It is an activity that is enjoyed and looked forward to by kids. It is crucial as it develops social skills & positive relationships in children that they carry forward in life.
Circle time is when teachers/therapists oversee interactive activities seen in schools or educational settings. Each child awaits their turn, responds receptively or expressively when called upon by the instructor and begins the exposure to routines in a group setting. It can used to address issues faced in the class or by some kids. It paves the way for lasting ties between the classmates. Many children on the spectrum need more differentiating instruction to address their specific needs in areas targeted for improvement.
These sessions can be between 20-40 minutes daily at a fixed time to help kids also develop skills related to following the rules, understanding expectations, and exposure to classroom routines they will see in the educational setting.
